We arrived in Akureyri and stopped to ask for directions and where to stay. We were directed to the Akureyri Backpackers Hostel in downtown which was conveniently located around the corner from the sushi spot Rub 21 that came highly recommended from our friend Geiri in Reykjavik. The staff was friendly and checked us into a 4 bunk bed dorm room with lockers. We had the dorm to ourselves and sheets were included. Bathrooms were small and clean. The hostel has cute, colorful and quirky decorations! The highlight of this hostel was awesome spacious cafe/restaurant area! We enjoyed drinking coffee and getting to know some French boys visiting Iceland for skiing. The owner went above and beyond to help us with directions to our next destination! Most things you’d want to do in town are walking distance from the hostel.
