I remember when Megabus first came on the scene in 2006, they gave away all their fares for $1! Which made quite the impression on me. I frequently take Megabus to visit my family in Maine and occasionally to Boston. They offer bus service to over 100 cities in North America, I decided to take one last summer trip to Philidelphia!
I love Megabus because their fares can still be as low as $1.00!! The busses are very spacious, have power outlets and pretty decent wifi. With really low fares and pretty direct routes, Megabus can be an even better option than driving. The bus to Philly only took two hours and five minutes! Which is very direct. I’ve taken the train before and Megabus is a fraction of the price for a very comfortable experience. I like sitting on the second floor of the bus so I can have awesome views.
Philly is a great place to visit if you’re really into history. This is Independence Hall which is the building where both the United States Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution were debated and adopted. Independence Hall tickets are free, or $1.50 if you’d like to reserve them in advance.
While in Philly you may want to check out the Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania, it’s a beautiful public garden. It’s $17.00 for adults, but only $9.00 if you walk in.
My friend Melissa and I decided to try the most infamous cheesesteaks in Philly, Pat’s or Geno’s. I have to say, I am hands down a huge fan of Pat’s. The bread was tastier and there was significantly more meat, onions and cheese than Geno’s for the same price. When you order at Pat’s, make sure to say “wit wiz”-trust me on this one!The Philidelphia Museum of Art was built in 1876 and hosts a beautiful collection. Tickets are a little pricy at $19 but they do have discount days which can be found on their website. They also do yoga on Wednesday evenings.
I love that Megabus has these big signs, so it’s really easy to know where to line up for your bus!
There is beautiful street art around the city and cool sculptures such as this one called “Covenant” by Alexander Liberman that was installed in 1975.I can’t say enough great things about Megabus, it’s so convenient and inexpensive. You should definitely grab a friend and take a fun weekend trip with Megabus to somewhere you’ve never been!
