It was a beautiful day that we arrived in Charleston. We decided to go off the beaten path and check out Queen St. Grocery for lunch. There, the staff were super friendly and I ordered one of their hot pressed sammies, the “Tenacious Turkey.” Everything in it sounded incredible to me; turkey with melted brie cheese and green apple shavings, garnished with alfalfa sprouts and a secret honey basil sauce, hot-pressed on rosemary sea salt ciabatta. Yum! It was not disappointing, it was delicious, and yes honey basil sauce is as tasty as it sounds.
I also decided to try the “Moultrie” smoothie; fresh banana and peanut butter blended with chocolate soy milk. It felt like the perfect sweet peanut butter treat to end my lunch with. My friend ordered the “Murray” crepe. He also couldn’t stay away from the combination of brie cheese, apple and turkey. His crepe also featured spinach, and spicy sriracha and homemade basil pesto. I tried a bite and it was just the right amount of spicy. At Queen St. Grocery you can sit inside or outdoors, and, if you can find it, the bathroom is extremely tiny but clean. With the average prices for lunch or breakfast between $5-$9 this is my choice for a great spot to get breakfast or lunch and a smoothie!
