I wasn’t sure what to expect from waterfall rappelling with Geotours. On the way there I sat next to a girl from Sweden, we got to talking and it turned out that we coincidentally have a mutual friend. John Ward. She met him in Nepal and he went to visit her in Sweden. I met him in Iceland and we met up to travel last September in British Columbia! What a small world!
We arrived at a small Ecuadorian home where there was a couple spaces for us to change into our wetsuits, after we did a safety and instructional briefing. We trekked a short ways up the mountain, the views of the green countryside were beautiful. Our tour guides were gregarious and funny! We quickly arrived at the top of a series of waterfalls and started taking turns rappelling down. Some were more like slides-others required a bit more tenacity, it was so much fun!
Bonus: A unique way to get to Ecuador is to take an incredible 8 day cruise Scenic Australia from Cartagena, Colombia to Guayaquil, Ecuador. Imagine the amazing experience of transiting the mighty Panama Canal in daylight hours. Explore the unique marine and bird life of Isla de la Plata by submarine and discover the coastline of Columbia via Zodiac and kayak. These are some of the many extraordinary experiences you’ll have during this discovery cruise along Central America’s coast.
