Are you planning on hitting up Europe over the summer? Are you thinking about how you’d like to explore the old continent – whether by train, bus or an organized tour? Here’s a brief rundown of your options. Give them a read and let your imagination run wild… Europe awaits!10150234631890436

By Train

Traveling through Europe by train – especially in the summer – is an enjoyable and scenic experience. Many of the trains now feature wifi, have some fun and check out William Hill this month specials promotions! Thankfully, Europe is blessed with an extensive and efficient train network, able to whisk travelers all over Europe from the comfort of a regular seat or sleeping berth. Not only is it more comfortable and less expensive than flying, but traveling by train will deposit you in the heart of the city, instead of at an airport, which is usually some distance from where you actually want to be. Trains are also the perfect place to meet other travelers and locals; simply walk on over to the restaurant compartment on your train, order a drink (or two) and you’ll be deep in conversation before you know it… how much you can speak and understand of said conversation is an entirely different story though! Consider purchasing a rail pass if you plan to hit many European cities in a relatively short amount of time (up to three months). Note that you’ll still have to pay for a seat reservation on most high-speed trains and all night trains.

By Bus

If you prefer a little more flexibility in your travels to Europe, perhaps getting around by bus is for you. Tickets for different legs of your journey can be booked point-to-point and you can book them anytime. Traveling by bus in Europe is generally the cheapest option too, especially when booked weeks in advance. Most European bus companies offer Wi-Fi and electrical outlets onboard – absolutely essential when traveling anywhere – and will drop you off in the city centre. Just don’t expect to get much sleep when traveling on a night bus as most buses aren’t fitted with seats conducive to getting any amount of shut-eye.10150197431715436

By Tour

If you’d prefer having pretty much everything organized for you while you travel around the continent this summer, then consider joining an organized tour. Traveling Europe with a tour guide and fellow travelers is a great way to see the continent and meet loads of new people along the way. Tour companies – such as Albatross Tours– generally organize most or all of your transportation (usually a combination of train, bus and coach), accommodation and activities, and are always there to answer any questions and provide suggestions on what to see and do when in a new country. If you’re a first time traveller, have special needs, or would just appreciate having a lot of the legwork done for you, join a tour through Europe and spend more of your time enjoying the cities and regions you visit.

    Hi Anna Kate,

Awesome! My wife did Euro Rail during late fall and loved the travels. She still had fairly warm weather throughout the trip.

    Keep on inspiring!

My sister cut her hand open on the euro rail traveling from Switzerland to Italy. She was slicing a baguette andthe knife slipped. Woops! Lucky for her, she was able to get to stitches at the airport clinic but the train is indeed a great option.

These are good ways to travel. Overnight trains are great because you can use the travel time to sleep and therefore not miss any daylight sightseeing time! I’ve mostly done my travel by bus though – cheap but you’re right, really not the most comfortable or conducive to sleep!

We made it to Europe for the first time back in Dec, and again Dec/Jan – can't wait to see it in the summer this year!
